I wanted to share a tip on selecting your venues and vendors. When selecting items such as your hairdresser, makeup artist, photo locations, and ceremony + reception venue you should try and make them as close together as possible! Having your getting ready location outside of Edmonton, ceremony in Edmonton, and then your reception back outside of Edmonton is not only going to be a big pain in the bum, but it is going to cost you a lot of precious time. It may only take you 15 minutes to get into Edmonton on a regular day, but any given Saturday from June – September is twice as traffic heavy especially downtown during 12-3 p.m. By choosing you reception location further away you’re losing at least 30-60 minutes of photo time, or perhaps it means you have to get ready much sooner – which doesn’t sound bad. But how long have you contracted your photographer to come?
Also remember you have guests coming from out of town, have you ever been to wedding where there is not hotel close to the reception site is big drive from the ceremony? It’s not much fun getting lost in a strange city – even if you provide maps or have GPS it is still possible to get lost, trust me.
PS. Several new posts + weddings coming soon. I’m sorry I’ve been bad, just really, really, really busy and some fabulous announcements coming as well!
