Rob and Erin were married and had their beautiful reception at the Country Lodge in Edmonton. There are so many super awesome details, I sure hope I don’t miss a thing. Rob + Erin and I started planning just over a year ago for the perfect wedding, and perfect it was. They wanted an eco friendly wedding on a budget, and we did that. To start with the ceremony and reception were held in once place – thus less carbon footprint by the guests. Rob + Erin and party traveled in a super eco friendly ETS bus. You may have thought of them as silly when having to use them every day but on your wedding day they are pretty neat, and way more roomy than a limo. Rob + Erin did their photos before the ceremony which also made sure that the guests did not have to leave for a single thing!
When guests entered for the ceremony there was juice that fit the theme to a T, while we used “plastic” cups they were actually made of corn starch – fully biodegradable; and each drink was chosen based on the color, they had to match the theme of course.
There was a beautiful piece of burlap that ran the aisle with river rocks, twigs and recycled mason jars. The fantastic ceremony arrangements (and all flowers) were done by La Piazza Dasee.
There were three very special seats reserved at the front, for those who could not make but were with us in spirit. One being Erin’s father. We also had some very talented musicians to play for us during the ceremony. After the ceremony was complete everyone exited outside to congratulate the new Mr. + Mrs., while we turned around the rest of the venue (most was in place, but allowed us to finish any last minute touches, like lighting candles!)
Guests were greeted with a photo guestbook that was printed on 100% recycled paper and designed by the fabulous Jenelle at Pink Polka Design (as all the fabulous stationery at the reception was). Local cinnamon honey favors were doubled a guest place cards and arranged so elegantly. (nothing makes me happier than a neatly arranged set of seating cards)
The tables had some fabulous double sided table numbers that had a mad lib on the backside, which was used later when you wanted the couple to kiss. On the table we used had made (by me) green burlap runners, with mason jars, river rocks, and beautiful center pieces designed by Haley at La Piazza Dasee.
Now, I have to admit this is by far one my favorite details. The cake. Yes, that is a cake. A puffed wheat square cake. How awesome is that? Way back when I posted about doing different cakes Rob + Erin feel in love with the rice crispie cake I showed, but the rice crispie didn’t quite appeal to Erin, she loved Puffed Wheat!
Rob + Erin didn’t want to be far from their guests and did not have a traditional “Head Table” – which is why you don’t see one.
Revolution DJ kicked off the party and Rob + Erin dance to a remixed version of “You Are my Sunshine” – which is where the whole theme began. So the them was a sunshine meets eco friendly theme which gave us green + brown + a touch of sunshine.
The two of you truly shined on your wedding day and I hope that the two of you have many, many, many years of happiness and sunshine!
